Alessandro Primi

An architecture student immersed in vibrant university life

During his final years at the artistic secondary school in Busto Arsizio, his hometown, Alessandro Primi gave a lot of thought to where he would study, considering several European cities. Recently returned from an internship in Paris, an integral part of his studies, he is attending the third year of his bachelor’s degree in Architecture at the Academy in Mendrisio.

Why study in Mendrisio?

I chose the Academy for its more artistic and innovative approach compared to other universities and for its medium-small structure, which definitely fosters more interaction between students. The fact that there are students who really come from all over the world makes you feel part of an international and vibrant community, stimulates your creativity in study projects, and is also enriching on a personal level.

What does Mendrisio mean to you?

For me, Mendrisio is the ideal place to live and study. The small size helps to create a lovely, united student community, where we know each other well and support each other. Although the town obviously has a smaller cultural scene and fewer events compared to the large European metropolises, there are different places to get together, activities, and opportunities to get away from studying and enjoy free time with your friends.

One way being in Mendrisio makes your life easier?

Definitely the ability to get around quickly. You can get anywhere in just a few minutes, there are all the amenities and services you need: of course, this makes everyday life much easier. For example, I can go for a walk, meet my friends, or go for a coffee without having to waste too much time travelling by public transport. In bigger cities, like Milan or Paris, I really felt the difference. Whereas here, everything is within reach.
