What makes living in Mendrisio easy for you?
It’s easy for several reasons. First of all, I have all the amenities and services I need close to home and I can easily get around on foot, even to the station. Public transport is punctual and, among other things, I was pleasantly surprised by the option to buy the Municipal Saver Day Pass: a beneficial initiative, which we took advantage of for a trip within Switzerland. In addition, having to deal with all the red tape to live here made me appreciate the efficiency of the public offices and the attitude of the employees: kind, sunny, patient… it’s not something you take for granted!
What does Mendrisio mean to you?
For me, Mendrisio is home. I have always found the people to be welcoming, they have never made me feel like an “outsider”, and despite having moved here relatively recently, I feel completely at ease and part of the community. On the other hand, life here is in tune with my way of being and my lifestyle: I love peace and quiet and respect for your neighbours, for example when it comes to noise. Even at work, the organisation, the well-defined roles, and the approach to the residents [of the nursing home, ed.] definitely strike a chord with me, even if the work is fast-paced
What couldn’t you give up about Mendrisio?
The sense of safety: I can go for a walk alone with the dog even in the evening without any problems, and it’s a small luxury I was not used to, but which I definitely wouldn’t want to give up.
